Fun Fact

A Powwow (also Pow wow or Pow-wow) originated from Native Americans. It is a type of event to meet, socialise, talk, sing and dance and mostly honour their culture. Today, we refer to a "Powwow" as having a meeting or discussion between friends or colleagues.

The Founders

The Founders

Powwow was founded by a group of three educators, each with well over a decade’s experience teaching in China at every age and level.

The Problem

The Problem

We recognised that the main problem for so many students of English is finding a native-speaking partner with whom they can interact regularly.

The Solution

The Goal

To connect students and language learners with native-speakers currently at university in the US, UK, Canada, Australia & New Zealand. Students can join Powwow from as young as 15 years old, giving them years of speaking practice before they study abroad.

Confidence

Confidence

Millions of young people in Asia have studied English all the way from kindergarten, but they lack the fluency needed to thrive in English speaking countries. Not anymore! Now their fluency will increase and this will give them the confidence they need.

Passed

Speaking Test

Students that want to study abroad need a good score in the IELTS or TOEFL speaking tests to gain admission to an institution. Many students have an excellent understanding of grammar and a relatively large vocabulary but couldn't use it in the real world. Now, they get real, genuine practice opportunities.

The Buddy

The Buddy

What students and language learners really need is not so much a traditional instructor, but one or more friendly practice partners, of their choosing: a Buddy.

So come and join us in this exciting and fun mission to make life better for deserving students all over the world.
